From here on, you will probably spend most of your time building vocabulary and learning grammar. This will heavily involve writing, listening, speaking, and reading German. And then after that? Repeat them again. Make your goal to “over learn”. Below you can find a few tips for approaches to sharpening these skills.

Don’t get stuck into thinking you know German but then the moment you hear somebody say something it all crashes apart and it is almost completely indecipherable to you! Become competent when communicating in ALL forms of German: both on paper and in person.

If you are following a textbook, vocabulary will be included. Learning words in German is accomplished through memorization, but practice ensures it is not forgotten. While studying, visiting  Quizlet.com periodically and using their flashcard lessons can help reinforce the learning.
